How to Protect Your Computer From Viruses

A computer virus is a program aptly named. Like biological viruses, are malicious in nature, do one of the bog down the data on the Internet to remove the information about the infected computer. Also, just like biological viruses, replicate and spread in the sense that they can move from one computer to another.

Before anything else, you need to buy or download anti-virus security. A good security program must be able to do two things: one, you should be able to detect and prevent the entry of the virus. Two, the program must be able to detect viruses that have been successful in their attempt to infect your system, and should be able to clean the virus off.

There are three main types of known viruses. The best way is to adopt the type of, and know what steps to take to protect your computer.

One is the standard computer virus. This walk is hidden in a normal program, and activate only when the program is accessible. The virus spreads through the system of copies of itself and infect other programs it detects. Any good security system is primarily aimed at the general protection against viruses. However, new viruses are constantly being created by hackers, so the best defense against this is to find a supplier of security systems are always up to date with the latest known viruses.

Another type of virus is a virus via e-mail. This is a virus, which extends the computer is hidden in e-mail. When using an e-mail, and the results of using the virus to replicate itself by sending copies of itself to all contacts. E-mail providers have built in anti-virus software to check incoming mail, but the best defense is awareness. DO NOT open emails from unknown sources, and if you get an email from a trusted source with a header, looks suspicious, try to verify the source, if he or she sends an e-mail before opening it.

A worm is a third type of security threats. This is a computer program that has the ability to copy itself from terminal to terminal on the internet or even in a closed system as a local network. Unlike ordinary viruses, worms copy themselves directly to a computer without having to run hidden in the file. In addition, worms are dangerous because they are programmed to look for a hole in the security programs, and use those weaknesses as an input into the system. A firewall is the best way to deal with worms. A firewall is a program that blocks attempts by computers from unknown sources to access your terminal.
